Jessica - Belly Dancer

Dancing from the inside out, interpreting the music through movement. Jessica started out as a dancer. Her mother's favorite story is of Jessica dancing to the television as her first steps. Her sister Rose was watching American Bandstand and they were playing the song "Shaboom." Not a hip shaking number, but somehow it moved Jessica to walk.

Her love for dance continued. At age six, she began ballet class and continued until she was 16 years old. From there she became interested in Jazz Dance until  she took her first bellydance class... and it was love at first sight.

Jessica makes most of her costumes and accessories. She loves to sing, and plays the djembe and doumbek whenever she can. Jessica also loves the outdoors, and considers herself a minimalist gardener. Jessica has retired (early) from her day job; and is free to be as creative as she wants to be.

On Feb 17th, 2002, Jessica was 3rd Runner Up at the Belly Dancer of the Universe competition in Long Beach, California. On July 12th, 2002, she took 2nd Place at the Wiggles of the West competition at the Hilton in Reno, Nevada.

Jessica is continuing her Spiritual Path and Bellydance trail. She would like to meet and perform with other dancers on this great earth.

"Ojai Faire was great. First time for me. Played a bunch of shows with Sean, Noor, and Shakira of Cairo Caravan, and Jessica, who you have to check out. She's got a video, too, that'll blow you away. Also musicians Rod and Charlie from Basilon d' Babylon, and Christian, from one of the Scottishcamps, who djembes with the best of 'em - evil geniuses all."
